Audience

This course is designed for administrators who want to perform advanced configuration of the Futrix Enterprise Business Intelligence suite for end users.

Course Description

This one-day course focuses on using the advanced features of the Futrix administrator management console to configure the Futrix system.

Prerequisites

You should be competent in the use of the Futrix environment to the levels presented in the Futrix End User Training course and the Futrix Administrator Training course. Some knowledge of SAS software is required to successfully complete this course. To fully understand and maximize the benefit from this course, you should have an understanding of SAS software to the level presented in the SAS Programming 1 course.

Objectives

When you have completed this course you should be able to:

End User Interface Management

  • add new commands to the Futrix environment
  • customize the items selectable from pull down menus
  • alter the items displayed on the toolbar
  • change the behavior of the pop-up menu as well as the items contained therein
  • change the way double-clicks are interpreted in the report
  • specify an alternative location for custom images

Secondary Data Sources

  • understand how secondary data sources speed up performance
  • understand the different types of secondary data sources
  • specify secondary data sources within Futrix

Summary Data Sets

  • understand why summary data sets can be very powerful
  • select which dimensions/variables should be dropped when creating a summary data set
  • add new dimensions to a summary data set to increase reporting and analysis flexibility

Summary Data Sets (Futrix Created)

  • create a summary data set in Futrix for use as a secondary data source

Cubes

  • understand how cubes store data
  • understand when cubes are an appropriate storage mechanism
  • create a cube from within Futrix
  • save the source code to create a cube independently of Futrix
  • minimize the volume of a cube even with large numbers of dimensions
  • view the history of cube creation for any meta-item

Cube Self-Optimization

  • understand the optimization rules and thresholds and tune them
  • optimize cubes once sufficient cube usage tracking data has been collected

HOLAP Data Groups

  • understand HOLAP Data Groups
  • register a HOLAP Data Group in Futrix

SAS/Access Data Sources

  • understand how to register a SAS/Access data source as a custom library in Futrix
